Front racks
To carry a little load while avoiding a heavy and hot backpack, turn to a luggage rack.
The classic front luggage racks need to be fixed at the level of the wheel axle. If you want to mount one, you must first check that your fork is equipped with fixing eyelets. A large majority of bikes are equipped with it, but not all!
You also need to consider the size of your wheels. The luggage racks mention the size for which they are intended or adapt to several sizes.
Some models offer attachment to the frame or directly integrated into the handlebar if your fork is not equipped with one.
The luggage racks are either made of aluminum (insensitive to rust, light, supports loads of 20 to 25 kg) or steel (robust, suitable for heavy loads 40kg).
There are different sizes and shapes to adapt to different practices. For an urban environment, we recommend a plateau type such as the Portland from Basil. For cycle tourism and bikepackers a Raider Front from Zéfal to be fitted with Ortlieb saddlebags.
If you also equip yourself with a rear luggage rack , remember to distribute the weight evenly!
